No matter what I am doing, I like to have a lot of fun!

It is reflected with the whimsy and playfulness of my artwork. The beauty and innocence

of nature is such an inspiration.

An unusual inspiration is my name, Aili (Finnish for Eileen);

Tricky to pronounce, so I tell people, just call me Smiley, which,

   One: reflects my personality and

   Two: people always react with a smile

​

The encouragement of my two amazing daughters motivates my hands and brushes to float across each canvas. When I am not painting on canvas, I enjoy photography, re-purposing handyman-style, painting murals, faux finishing, the great outdoors and gardening.

​

When people look at my work, I want their emotional reaction to be happy and full of joy.

​

I studied fine art, photography and advertising at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
